WELCOME BACK FRIENDS!
This month - TECH. We are listening to your feedback, and again < = >, so this month, we will release 5 bite-sized newsletters rather than one ridiculously overwhelming one (with only 1 being a shameless plug of our own stuff).
Special bonus this month:
For the person who interacts the most with the first 4 newsletters this month (opens, clicks, forwards, comments), we will send you a FREE paperback copy of our newest book A is for Action: The ABC’s of Taking Action! To preview the first 9 pages of this book, click HERE and press “Download Sample”. We will announce the winner in our 5th newsletter, which should come your way on September 30th.
Quick Note: This year’s Global Education Conference will be held on November 18-22, 2013. If you want to present in this conference, the call for proposals is now open! Click HERE to get started.
As you return back to school, get your kids started with their inquiries on the right foot!
Alternatives to using “Google” as a search engine for students
A simple, cloud-based search, with less, but more-focused results
Search for what you want...while taking action and helping to plant trees!
If you or your students are set on using Google, then educate yourself and your students about how powerful it truly can be!
Create a Research Hub using and embed it on your class blog/website or set as a homepage on your class computer.
Click HERE for an example of what that might look like.
Cool TECH Tools and Websites
Have students work collaboratively, document that process, share tips along the learning journey, and export the completed work as a PDF or Word file.
Ensure students are giving credit where credit is due by sourcing what they use (Expert-style!)
Easily create a class website or have your students create one! Use it for immediate feedback to parents, group work, or as an online portfolio or blog (with a free APP to immediately add content). You can also password protect pages to avoid any privacy issues!
Fun Fact: This website was created using Weebly!
Alternatives to YouTube:
Can’t use YouTube in your school? Use this custom created search engine to search for educational videos not hosted on YouTube!
Bloom's Digital Taxonomy:
29 of the Best online web tools that support "Bloom's Digital Taxonomy"
Many of you know about Wordle, the word cloud generator. Well, here are 9 alternatives that might suit you better!
Choose a real or fictional character, and Akinator will guess it, EVERY time! You can also get the APP (well worth the $1.99), but you can use the website for free! This has great potential for an activity in your class.
See you next week for TECH APPS with even less to read; Quality over Quantity!
